The complexity and intensity of this wine tends to vary from year to year depending on the extent the weather permits the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to ripen, given that they are the last to mature before the typical September storms in Malta.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Merlot vines were mostly planted between 2003 and 2007 while the Cabernet Sauvignon were planted in 2003. The Chardonnay vines were planted in 2005 and the yield is restricted to up to 1.6kg per vine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThis oak-fermented Chardonnay, produced against all odds, is a complex wine which conveys apricot, white fig and vanilla to balance the acidity and alcohol, which in some years exceeds 14%vol. The first four months of the year were colder than average, while the rest of the year was warmer than the norm. The vines were lush and could withstand the hotter months, the grapes matured a week earlier than the norm. This was the first harvest of Mourvèdre at Ta’ Betta, and given that this varietal reaches full maturation later than Syrah when harvested concurrently in late August, the Syrah was more forthcoming with sugar content, whilst the Mourvèdre contributed to the acidity and therefore freshness of this wine. The marriage of the flavours and backbone of these two varietals are noteworthy with our Isabella Guasconi Superior Malta DOK Rosé 2022.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wine is juicy and well concentrated, round and ripe on the palate, offering strawberry, cherry and subtle blood orange notes.
